David on the issues facing McLean County
Property Taxes
With the local housing shortage driving up home prices and rents in McLean County, it is absolutely crucial that we hold the line and prevent further property tax increases. These taxes hit homeowners and renters alike and add additional financial strain to those trying to keep a roof over their heads.
Public Safety
My decision to run for office was sparked by a shooting near my home in the summer of 2023. As a resident whose neighborhood has been rocked by violence, I understand that law enforcement is one of the most fundamental public services provided by local government. As a county board representative, I will proudly support law enforcement, work to properly fund and strengthen our Sheriff's Department, and support our State's Attorney's mission to advocate for victims of crime.
Economic Development
County government needs to be focused on reducing barriers to starting a business in McLean County. Our county is home to a vibrant business community that is the lifeblood of the local economy. To help our local businesses thrive, the County Board needs to pursue policies that reduce red tape and keep taxes and fees low.
Transparency
Transparency in county government is vital to establishing trust in our community. McLean County's audited financial statements need to be public and available on the county website in a timely manner.
